Saturday I bought a Toro 520xi with 48" deck from a dealer with 401 hours. Tuesday I traded the 48" deck for a 60" deck. It was about 45f outside when I did this. If I try to engage the PTO for the mower deck at or near full throttle it kills the engine every time. It only engages at low throttle settings. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there something in the wiring stopping this or are three 21 to 22 inch long blades too much of a flywheel to spin up from sitting still?

There is a clutch monitor relay connected to pto & cruise control sw's,pto may be wired to only allow engagement when cruise control on & eng at low speed.Goto link below with tractor mod & sn numbers off id tag,operators manual & 5xi series service manual avail as a free download,this problem may be covered in operators manual or service manual,also check with local toro dealer.
