What will cause the gooey black sticky substance to build up in the lp converter?
When i rebuilt the lp converter on my tractor, the converter had this stuff all over on the inside and covering the diaphrams.it was also in the fuel strainer valve and had caused it to stick and stop working.I rebuilt this converter app 5 years ago and do not remember all the black gooey sticky stuff in there at the time. Also the high pressure diaphram and the low pressure rubber valve were eaten up and falling apart with this stuff on them. Thanks for any help |

I wonder too if some of it might be that they're putting more of the stinky stuff into LP than they used too. As a kid we bled the vapor off the top of the nurse-tanks to fill them. I don't recall seeing the yellow stinky liquid showing up like it does now when I fill BBO grill tanks out of my 500 gal tank. |

It is supposedly coming from the inside of the hoses filling your tank and any going to the regulator. Need to drain your big tank! the gunk has built up to the liquid withdrawal drop pipe in your tank. Is your tank 50 yrs old. Also drain your tractor tank. Your LP Gas man can come and pump out your tank. Then drain the gunk. If he won"t change gas company"s till someone will. |
