Several articles on converting. Look up John T's conversion articles in the forum. Welcome to the forum. Sorry for no replies so far. Been in the field--as many others have.

Hi Logan, the 424 gas should have a C-146 engine.
The first requirement is to determine if the 424 is +ve or -ve ground. According to tractordata.com the 424 was first produced in 1962, so could be either +ve or -ve ground system. If it is +ve ground most alternators are made for -ve ground and generators could be polarized in either direction but most older tractors were +ve ground. You can reverse the leads on the battery but may have to buy new cable ends as the +ve post on a battery is larger than negative. Also since it is a gas you will have to reverse the leads on the coil, also if there is an amp meter and gas gauge.

There is a thread at http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=farmall&th=886276 for a 2444 tractor which is very similar to the 424.

Bob M and John T on this site are the experts.
