I am looking at a Super 90 with antifreeze in engine oil, that is for sale. Are they noted for that? It could be an expensive to fix, or are the head gaskets generaly the problem. WHAT engine does it have in it. WHERE is a good place to get O H engine kits? ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIANCE WHITH THIS PROBLEM?

Hi Smoker
Asssuming your 90 is a Diesel? It has the Perkins 4A300 engine.
Most likely cause of the antifreeze problem is the head gasket is blown out between No 3 and 4 piston, through a water gallery. I have seen many blown gaskets and they all blow out there, in the same place.
If this is the problem, it is a relatively easy fix. New gaskets are still available.
Take the head in to your engine re-builder and have them check the valves and guides. Most likely needs new guides too.

Is there a cheaper place to purchase parts than the MF dealer? I see some has OH kits but not gaskets alone.

Where are you located? This makes a big difference when purchasing Massey parts from dealers.
The gaskets alone, I can get priced for about 125.00 Plus shipping. If you need valve guides, which I am sure you will...Unless this 90 has had the head done recently...Are getting harder to find, they are out there but have wide cost differences. I would budget about $40.00 each for them X8.
You say you have priced out overhaul kits?
Are these the engine kits or the valve grind kits?
I have not seen complete overhaul kits in years. Sleeves and pistons are non-existent. Even some gaskets are NLA.

I live Saskatchewan,Canada. I never phoned to see what was in the kits yet. Thanks again for the info. Gives me a better idea on weather to purchase it or not. This looks $500.00to 1000.00 job. Can"t get sleeves either,( if it needed them) maybe used ones?

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. Medstead
If you need parts, I carry most of the parts, including most gaskets.
I like to buy, repair and re-sell Massey 90s. In fact I have 3 for sale right now. Actually have 7 in the fleet right now. Greatest little tractors for the farm.

You could get an engine off a MF 410 combine. I have 2 of them in Ohio.
