i just purchased a john deere 1010w with a gas engine. somehow water got into the upper end of the engine, froze and cracked the exhaust manifold and has probably done other damage. engine is frozen. don"t know if i should rebuild this one or find a decent used engine. i"ve been told some combine engines will fit this tractor. is that true? any advice will be appreciated.
thanks |

The 40 square back combines used the same moter as a 1010. I was told that you can also use a 2010 engine out of a 45 combine(but I do not know for sure) |

The 2010 gasser deck plate/sleeves and pistons are a drop in upgrade .
What serial number? There are two distinct versions of the 1010. |
