Farmall H oil filter seal

Does anyone have a better idea on sealing the oil filter housing on a Farmall H other than the rubber ring?

a new soft one will seal fine. a hard twenty year old not so well.

Be sure you get all of the old one out.

That gasket needs to be changed with every filter change. A new gasket is furnished with every new oil filter, why not use it?

Thanks, that was the problem, I still had hard rubber still in the grove. I had the use a drill to clean it out.
