Ford 73-76 390 ci F-250 4X4 can the rear main seal be replaced by removing just the oil pan? Or does the tranny and clutch need to be undone?
thanks. |

POPGUN,Just drop the pan and the rear maim cap.Check the main for excessive wear. Roll the top half of the seal out and the new top half in.Put the bottom half in the cap, with a dab of gray RTV on the ends of the seal and torque it up. |

Thanks DMS I have the whole engine gasket set but the more I see it may just be the valve or intake leaking down the back onto bellhousing and I am betting I will find the valve guide seals gone or bad shape, she looses a qt per tank of gas. I was told by one person its like a Harley, you only havea problem when it fails to use oil. |
