Never used the phrase myself, but I guess it means someone who must be obeyed.
I think it was HER that took that vow when WE got married.

It is very old. Came from Egyptian goddess Isis and eventually handed down to us in the modern day.
The ideal wife - as powerful today as she was in the days of the pharaohs.

Yes, She/Someone Who Must Be Obeyed.
Don't take it too literally though.
To me its more a term of endearment than a statement of position.
How's the new S-55 coming along?

Starts and runs like a dream. When I was putting things back together though,I discovered the heat shield under the gas tank was missing. Gonna have to make a phone call or two to Texas and try to find one before I go too crazy with body work.
Busy as a one armed paper hanger picking corn right now,so I'll get to it someday.

Glad to hear that!
I don't have any Olly parts around here at all, so I'm no help there.
There is an S-55 just around the corner I was going to go look at, but I haven't
had the time. I'm actually trying to get ready for winter before it gets here.
Gordy hasn't got the beans off my place yet, but I figure it won't be long.

I think Royce is on the right track when he says Don't take it too literally, and that it should be a term of endearment. Otherwise one just might end up with lumps on his head!

SWMBO goes back a lot father than a tv show. I think the Isis reference is right and I know the term was used in a late 30's Gary Cooper or Randolph Scott movie "She".
