OK....a dumb question.
I bought an ammeter for my 601 because there was a smaller (1 1/4") diameter empty hole just over the steering column hole.
Needless to say, the ammeter did not fit there.
What is supposed to go in this hole?
BTW....I do have the red charge light in left lower corner. |

Mandomaniac,
There was an option for a light to shine on your gauges.

Thanks guys! Interesting. Wiring diagram in shop manual showed ammeter, so I went with that. Now that I know different, I found it in the parts diagram.
You ever see the dashlight used? Did it work well? |

I have one. I would not call it well, but it gave a bit of illumination.
The shop manual for these tractors was printed for the *00 series and carried over into the *01 and early *000 series. That's why it shows the ammeter. The only real basic difference in these 3 series was tin, instrumentation, and two different SOS transmissions. Ford added a supplement to the same manual for the later (DDC) SOS transmission, but never did for the dash or tin changes.
