thinking about buying 44-6 because they sound so nice. How many horsepower are these? Are they rare? I see no tests for them. thanks |

They have quite a bit less torque than a 4. |

I don't think they would be considered rare but all the six cylinder massey tractors have been becoming more collectible. They did not make the 44-6 as many years as the 44 nor did they produce as many. Horsepower stock 40-48 from what I have seen. I have 2 of them. Neat tractors. |

i had one with a chrysler flathead six out of a combine was said to have 85hp what a gutless wonder it would scream like h$ll but wouldn't pull a buzzard of a sh$t pile. |

I junked one out and put the engine in a 333 cause I like the way it sounds, It's my hay baling tractor. The 4 cyl. that I removed had more power, the flat head 6 has no lugging power at all, it's tuned and bored ..40 over but is pretty mild. |

They are in the 40-45 hp range. neat but gutless. made 6657 of them |

hi, was installing the six in the 333 difficult, looks like same platform just different engine |
