Model A shipping code

Hello all. Long time forum follower. First time posting. I have a question that i'm hoping someone out there in deere land might be able to shed some light on. I purchased a Model A 1941 year model from a gentleman back in the spring and just got through restoring it. It was in good mechanical shape when i purchased it,just more cosmetic work than anything.Anyways i read in an earlier post about being able to call the JD pavillion and possibly abtaining info. i talked to a nice lady today from there,and explained how i was wanting to get more info on my A. She graciously provided me with some info,but here lies my question. She said that the shipping destination said that it was shipped on Feb.12,1941 with no actual name of a city or dealer,just a code.that code she said was T367 Exp. If anybody could shed some light as to what that code means i would appreciate it.thanks.

The number is a little odd............I think. Most of the "T" numbers, as I call them, are four digits or more. There is some debate as to what these numbers are, or mean. Some say they are something like a rail ticket. The most likely scenario is that they are invoice numbers for a shipment to a Branch House. These numbers are listed in the unstyled B and G production registers. There are almost always at least three tractors on any one given T number, sometimes many more. Every tractor listed with a given T number are all shipped on the same day, to the same branch house. I have even found that there are B's and G's shipped together on the same day, to the same branch, on the same T number. I just call them invoice numbers myself, and look at them as such.
Imagine it this way. Branch Houses get an allotment of so many tractors, or ordered tractors for their territory, based on sales. The tractor's final destination IS the branch house. They are sold to the branch, for later sale to dealers or customers in their area. The dealer or branch may have recorded the final destination, but from the factory's standpoint the branch was the final destination. Just an idea, but it fits very nicely with what evidence can be seen. The Branch that they listed for your tractor is in effect the final destination.
Until some concrete evidence is turned up by those so privileged to visit and study material at Archives, that says conclusively what these numbers mean, it is all theory.
