I am on the do not call list, but I still get more scam calls than I do from relatives and friends. Darned computer generated calls come from all over. I have looked up many of the area codes, they come from all over the country, and they are not correct. Just try to dial one of those numbers and you get a recording. I don't generally use strong language on the phone but here lately I push the button to talk to someone and then let them have it with both barrels. I don't even have a credit card, and I get two or three calls a day telling me they can lower my interest rate. |

I've been getting a string of them wanting to lower my VA loan.
I don't have a house loan?
Also for a year was getting calls on diabetic supplies. No one in the house needs any?
And with their shared lists, once you are on such, it just keeps cycling around and around...
The funny ones are the ones that tell me it's my final notice.... But then I can press 2 to get off their list? well, if it were their final notice, why would I remain on their list???

When they call, just hit a series of numbers into the call and hang up. I hear it will set their computers in a fit...... |

We get so many calls that I have stopped answering the phone unless the caller ID tells me it's someone I know. If it's important and it's really for me they can leave a message. 99% of the time they don't.
If some telemarketer does happen to get me on the phone, my tactic is simple - I either don't have one (no mortgage, so I don't need a lower rate), or I already got one (vinyl replacement windows? Oh, that's too bad - we just replaced all the windows last week!") |
