Hi, does anyone know how much fuel the Oliver 550 will use per hour? This would be while stationary, running a pto generator at 1600 rpm.
Thanks! |

Depends on:
a) Gas or diesel;
b) What is the average load?
Google "Nebraska Tractor Test Oliver 550"
The Diesel version is here : http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1545&context=tractormuseumlit

It will somewhat depend on how much the engine is loaded and governor operation. We have a gas and a diesel 550. The gas uses less fuel per hour raking hay, than my 20 hp. briggs and straton mower does mowing grass. The diesel uses less fuel than that. It is unbelievable how much work these tractors will do on a tank of fuel. |

Comparing apples to oranges, (or any other friut you want) , but my 770 gas will go through 2 1/2 gals/hr on the haybine and baler. Your 550 is the pretty much the same motor, less 2 cylinders. Should give you a ballpark figure anyway. |
