I just learned about this product called Lock Stitch. EM'ed the company for more info. Between the asterisks is the Reply:

Hello, Is the block cracked at the top also? This crack can be repaired by stitching but requires right angle tooling which is expensive to purchase.

This is widely used to repair industrial equipment of high value, and if done correctly it will work fine.
