Charles Rowell (charles in louisiana on the other N website) brought his recently acquired 671D with original generator to the TEDTEA show in Temple,Texas this past weekend. The only cooling air cutout in the "barrel" of the generator is in the lower, inboard quadrant next to the engine block. I know it's there as I felt it with my finger.

Here's one that I have in my spare parts. It originally had 4 cooling slots and someone spot welded a band of metal to cover 3 of the slots leaving only the lower, inboard slot uncovered. I wonder if Ford did this or a rebuilder?

Hello Alan , Yes Ford did this when they were Remaning gens for tractors , I had one in a Ford Reman box other rebuilders may have but I doubt it as I have gotten both tractor and Car/Truck gens before from places like Napa even though they were suppose to be for a tractor . Thanks Tony

I don't know what I am replying to. I have an older model 2000D with a metal strap covering the access holes which allow you to service the brushes. The 3000D is covered like the red one in the pics. Both are original as far as I can tell.
