I had to jumpstart my CC 129, apparaently battery was low--didn't mow with it much during the summer, and it just sat) Would not continue to stay running without the jumper battery being connected. Why? ( I actually thought it would continued running even WITHOUT a batttery once it was jusmp started). ???? |

Your generator must not be working. You need some kind of DC power to keep it running. The 129 does not use a mag system. |

You are out of electrons, no electrons means no spark. Your battery is flat and the generator not working. The K series Kohlers used on Cub Cadets have regular battery/point/condenser/coil ignition that requires an outside power source to work, like the aforementioned battery and or generator. |

Your battery has zero voltage. Without some voltage the generator will not make power then you have no power to run ignition system |

A generator will generator without a battery but it has to have a working voltage regulator or if older a cutout to work but no battery is needed. Alternators need some battery power to work.

I would put in another fully charged battery and take a volt meter and measure the charging voltage to your battery with the engine at 1/2 throttle or better. Measure across the battery terminals should see 14.5 volts with the engine at 1/2 throttle. If you only see 12 volts either then generator or the regulator is defective. Hal |
