Well, actually I got two new toys tonight. Saw an ad on CL Sunday night for a bandsaw. Guy said he was taking it to scrap today (Monday) if no one wanted it before them. I emailed the guy about it, gave him my phone number, and got the info off of it. Turns out to be an older 10 x 16 Wellsaw. So, I made him and offer of $200, which he agreed to, and I went to pick it up tonight. The only thing I see wrong with it is it's missing a blade guard. That's no big deal at all since all it is is a piece of flat metal with a 90 degree bend to bolt it on. I was able to get it cheap because it was in his way, and it was three phase and most people can't use, or don't want three phase.
So, get there this evening to pick it up and he still had it on the trailer, where he had put it to take to the scrap yard. Also on the trailer was a 2000 capacity Clark, push around, battery powered lift. We talked for awhile and he said the lift was headed to the scrapper as well, and was I interested in it. From what I can see all it needs is a new rollers and some TLC and it'll be a nice movable work platform, or whatever, to use in the shop, without firing up my gasoline powered lift and smoking the place out all the time.
Too there were a few small, old implements on the trailer that would fit really nice behind my old HB 212 A/C, or any other tractor that size. I offered him an extra $100 for the lift and as we talked he threw in the implements as well so he didn't have to mess with taking them to the scrapper for the few dollars that they would bring.
So, 10x16 Wellsaw, and a Clark lift, all for $300 and about $30 in fuel to go get them, and a few small implements for my garden tractor thrown in to boot. I think I made a pretty good haul tonight. |

Sounds like a win-win deal for both parties. |
