why is there a bolt and clip holding dist. to gov. housing? farmall 100

To allow the distributor to be rotated to accurately time the spark. Jim

They used that clip starting in 39 it was for installing the mag. Your dist has a base that you use for setting the timing on the dist that clip is not even needed for a dist as it will not move enough to time a dist. Its just the way they built them. Dont know it a mag was available for the 100 but mags were available for many yrs.
