i have a 49 jd A with a A3462R block which is cracked and have two others that are cracked. My question is will a block out of a AR-AO work in it? It appears that they take the same head gasket.If any people would know it would be on here.

I don't know. Couple of thoughts though:
You might try looking up the part numbers to see if they're the same.
Did you try asking on the JD board? Someone there might also have a spare.
