Reworking a 515 and need to change the bearing on the wobble shaft, the one in the carrier, original parts book says part # 242074. The local NH place says NLA. Is there a different number, he didn't see anything superseding, or is there a better source for this bearing. He could see the conical bearing at the end of the shaft opposite the flywheel. Thanks.

Get the dimensions off of the bearing and go to federal moguls site and go to the catalogs. If you go under the technical specs you can enter the dimensions you have and it will list about 10 bearings that are either exact matches or a within a few thousandths. I"ve used that a lot finding old bearings for stuff.

Messicks shows it in stock. Pricey though. $110.00 and some change. That may be because it's coming from parts depot which is an obsolete parts place.

Check with a good auto parts supplier in your area (Not Salvo or PepBoys, and probably not NAPA), preferrably with the bearings in hand. Quite often, they can cross it with a supplier number. If the truth was known, for all intents and purposes, there are only about a dozen bearings commonly used in farm machinery. And most can be matched to an easily available bearing, quite often using the numbers on the sides of the bearing.

Thanks guys, got a good industrial bearing supplier we use at work, will try them. Was expecting about a 100 dollar bill, its a big bearing. Didn't see it on Messiks, but that doesn't mean a thing.

Did you go under the parts breakdown for the 515 on messicks and then go under he parts list for it. That where I saw it. You can go to partsdepot dot com and look it up, but they won"t sell it to you. You have to buy it thru a dealer from. Those 515 are good mowers...I bought one a while back just to save it from the scrapper. I bought it off of the boys trailer before he went in. It was his grandfathers and had been stored in a barn for 25 years. I bought it for $20.00.
