Any one have a wiring diagram for a 400 gas tractor? I"ve done something wrong, starts and runs good, but when I turn the key to shut it off, it just keeps on running. any help will be appreciated Thanks in advance. |

The most likely source of "keeps on Running" is an alternator set up with the #1 terminal hooked to the ignition directly. That wire must have one of the following three things spliced into it. A light bulb from a side marker lamp (not LED), or a 3 amp diode with the marked end (band) toward the alt, or a 10 ohm 5 watt resistor. These components allow exciting current to initialize the alternator, but will not feed back into the ignition.
If no alternator, the wiring of the ballast resistor bypass on the starter relay could be wrong. The I terminal is near the big terminal hooked to the starter strap. the S terminal is near the battery cable terminal. If backwards it might continue to run. Jim
