I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN OLD ALLIS CHALMERS TRACTOR. IT HAS A CRANK START, THREE FORWARD SPEEDS AND ONE REVERSE. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE MACHINE LOOKING FOR A MANUFACTURE DATE. I GOT INFORMATION OFF THE INTERNET ABOUT A LOCATION ON THE TRANSMISSION COVER THAT WILL YIELD THE INFORMATION I AM LOOKING FOR. SURE ENOUGH, THERE IS A STAMPING IN THIS LOCATION. IT READS: B.31202. HOW DO I DE-CODE THIS NUMBER??? I HAVENT FOUND ANY CONVERSION CHARTS ON LINE!

It's a 1939 model B. No decoding needs to be done, just need a serial number reference.

In the left column of this page under Research & info just click on Serial #'s and go from there.

Kevin if you type in all capitols it is like you are yelling. Not good etiquette. Stop the Caps.

I use the one on the other Allis Chalmers web site. I also have a couple of books that have serial numbers charts in them. There is also the one referenced here on the left of the screen. As for parts, really all anyone is going to need is the model. If anything changed, odds are the replacement is going to be a universal fit for all B's.
