|
The Super Major was only 52HP and rather underpowered for many heavy cultivation jobs. In 1963-64 Roadless fitted a 6 cylinder 90HP Ford truck engine into the Super using new side rails to support the engine. A heavy duty clutch and crown wheel & pinion fitted.
Note the modified clutch peddle operation, and the shortened front axle with the support mounts. The front axle was mounted underneath the engine to add weight to the front axle for extra traction, and to keep the turning circle to the same as the normal 4wd Super Major.
Recently one of these in poorer condition than this one sold for $19,000 - very rare tractor and highly desirable by Fordson collectors |
