I am getting some long bean stems in the grain tank. This is how much is there after about 15 acres. Had this problm last year (1st year of use for me). I crawled inside, everything looked in order, not sure how they are getting this far down into the machine, they should stay on the straw walkers. Any ideas? Chris

Yep the stems are green which makes them heavy. Close gap, raise cylinder speed, more air. Make sure your fan intakes are clean. If you star pushing beans out the back open the sieves a little to compensate for the aggressive settings on the machine. Round up ready beans thrash hard because the stems don't die until about the third week of January

Are your stems green? If so that might be the reason since they won't grind up going through the cylinder and some may be getting through whole. There could be a problem with the beater pan, or there may be missing deflector(S) on the front of the straw walkers.

You need to check the beater/concave grater/fingers. They are on the back of the concave. If they are missing or bent you will get straw down into the sieves. Small pieces are common your straw looks bigger than that. So check out the concave fingers

There are two different types of fingers. Under serail number 11500 had straight individval fingers held in with a retainer. The Newer ones looked like a tuning fork and just had a bolt holding them between the two halves of the support.

Are there deflectors on the walkers to keep material from falling over the front and onto the sieves? Is the machine operating at rated speed?
