|
|
3 point hitch quit working, opened the hydraulic fluid lid and can see a piece of metal laying in the bottom that looks like it is a gear and has splines, I am assuming from looking at part diagrams that its the hydraulic ram arm.. it looks like it split in half, its definatly round and has a shaft that slides thru it as I can see the spline grooves in it...does anyone have any documents on how to replace this...? thanks for any help at all.

Since the ram arm is split, replacement is straight forward once the upper lift arms have been removed, which may require heat, and the lift cover has been removed.
Be sure to replace the cam follower pin, lift cylinder O-ring and back-up washer, and rock shaft bushings while the lift cover is off. I would also flip the rock shaft end for end.
Purchase of an I & T FO-20 manual before starting is advised.

would overload be what caused the arm to split..? or just old age and wear and tear, and is there anything else that typicaly would be damaged, other than the things you listed, and where is a good place to get that manual ?
thanks so much... its the blind leading the blind here,

Shock loading, e.g., bouncing along over rough terrain with a lifted heavy load, is the most likely cause of damage, though there are other potential causes.
The FO-20 manual is readily available on the internet, probably including this site.
I always completely rebuild and readjust the lift cover anytime that it is removed. Procedures for doing so are in the manual.

when you get the cover off.. take some pics.. especially of the shear face of the metal shaft.
check other associated parts like lift pins, nad lift arms, upper and loawer. that much of a shock load may have damaged other parts too.. dogbone.. piston.. cyl mouth..e tc.. |
