That's too bad that a whole series of tranny will become obsolete because of a bearing.
Just a thought here, but you might find a similar bearing and have to get a sleeve made to fit the race into the tranny. Wouldn't be the first time and if you're adding a C note to the mix you could probably get it done for that at a local machine shop.
Be the front runner on the topic and post specs and pics for posterity.
Otherwise, there's lots of 2/3000 trannies laying around waiting for a tractor to put them into.
I know of a 6 sp here in the Twin Cities if it comes to that. |

Thanks for the suggestion there ultradog. What would be a fair price for a salvage transmission? So far the only price I've recieved was for an amount that was half of what I paid for the tractor? |

I put the bearing number in google and came up with
the site linked below. They claim to have a good
cross to that number (at least the number you give
is in their list), but who knows?
Good luck!

Thanks, I've been waiting on an answer to an email I sent them. I send a photo so that I don't get a wrong bearing shipped to me like the last vendor that said they had one. Maybe I'll get lucky! So far I've contacted ten different vendors across the US and Canada and no one has the bearing. |

THANKS EVERYONE. I"ve found a salvage bearing so the offer is recinded! If you want to see the whole saga check out the other posts under "3400 Ford Transmission Bearing Source HELP HELP HELP".
If I hadn"t found the original bearing another poster "verniebennie" found a solution the same as I did in case the bearing can"t be found at savage. |
