I just bought this engine today and picking it up tonight. After reading on here I am not sure if it is a hit or miss. The serial is LA15720. As you can see it is painted green. A few question, did it come in the color or did someone want to make it a deere? It has a broken rocker arm (which broke this summer). HE has all the parts and no time to fix it. I might have over paid but I wanted to add the type to my ihc collection. Please help me with what you see and if 140.00 was to much. Also a same creak in the head which he fixed.

Thanks

Todd

Todd, this is a throttle governed engine, not hit or miss. Could have been green, but not sure on that.

You can buy a gas tank from Hit Miss Enterprises. Go to their web site and look under the IHC McCormick LA LB engines and see what other parts you may need.

If it is a kero unit, it will have a small gas 'can' at the air intake/choke. Start on gas then run on kero. HTH

That is an LA engine, is throttle governed, depending on the serial number, 1935-1936-1937? I am guessing on the year would been gray the later ones were red. They all ran on gasoline, I have never seen or heard of a Kero fuel LA/LB series engine. The M engine was a Kero engine, started on gas, then ran on kerosene.
Ed at Hit n Miss enterprises has excellant supply of parts, but do NOT be in a hurry, they are very slow about shipping stuff, even simple things like gaskets and such, but their quality is very good
