Just got my new machine home and in the shed yesterday. Was at my FIL's place in NC Iowa last Saturday, found out that the Harvest Days was canceled, was looking on Craigslist for John Deere stuff, and found this.

1978 4400 diesel, with the 329 engine. Pretty decent shape, 3900 hours. Engine is strong, injection pump recently rebuilt; mechanically I don't believe it needs much.

Am planning on a few more acres next year, and didn't have a bean combine really set up. My ultimate plan was to find a machine like this and use the engine, header height control, and hydraulic pump for reel on a 95; but this macine looks pretty decent and will probably use it for a while. Plus it has a working AC. By the way it set me back $2600, the guy almost sold it to another party for $2500; but said no when the guy said he just wanted the engine and was going to scrap the rest of the machine.
