Tom

Do you have a serial number for your 530? It must be a very late 1969 model with the tach drive coming off of the cam shaft like the 570. Does your 530 have a generator or an alternator? Do you know if the engine is original, or has it been replaced?

The dual range would be consistent with a very late 530.

Tom

It's puzzling because some of the very early 470/570's still had generators.... The tach drive had to be moved because of the migration from a generator to an alternator. That necessitated a recasting of the 188 diesel block. The tach drive was just incorporated into the distributor drive on the 148 and 159 spark ignition engines.....but the diesel block had to change....

It I were a betting man, I would wager Tom's 530 is the beneficiary of a engine replacement at some point and a later model engine was used that came with an alternator and cam shaft tach drive.

Tom

Good luck finding those 570s and 830. My brother and I found the 430 that we grew up with but the owner would not sell. It would be great to find any of the tractors dad owned....

souds very likely, my 1971 580CK had a generator with tach drive also, but the PO had let the block frezze and break and the Cse dealer had installed a new 207 just before I bought it and it had the cam tach drive, I still have the original gen but with me running it to clean lots at night and running a heater and 6 lights the gen could not keep up so I changed it to a alt and then put a tach cable that runs from the cam drive cnt
