My manual says to change pump...loosen belt and remove the belt. Therein lies the rub. The belt will not pass between the end of the crank and the crossmember. There is a plate about 1/2" thick bolted on front of the bottom pully with 4 bolts. What happens if I take them loose? Need help from one of you knowledgeable guys.

Remove the fan blades and then you can get the belt off the water pump pulley to change the pump. By the way the belt will if you do not have a loader fit between the frame and the crank pulley but it is a real tight fit and a real pain in the back sides. Of course what it sounds like you have is a tractor that had a loader on it and that plate is the hyd pump drive spline hub and if so yes you have to remove that |
