Look for the engine serial number stamped on a raised boss behind the magneto, below #1 cylinder.
I'm not sure that it is a Super A. Looks more like just an A from the picture. |

You dont have a Super A You say the tag is gone from the left seat bracket so look under the front spark plug behind the throttle rod there will be letters followed by numbers. It should start with FAA. There are cast codes also to tell about when the tractor was built. |

definitely not a super a - there are no hydraulics.
So the hood either is newer, or somebody stuck the wrong decal on it.
Look at casting codes with a letter on any of the major cast parts (and look at several as many parts may have been swapped out).
Do a web search and you can match that letter to the year.
(for example O = 1945, P = 1946, Q= 1947, R=1948 etc. etc - just don't quote me on those letter/years - look them up) |

The tractor does have hydraulics, but they're not FACTORY.
It is a Farmall A, not a Super. Two things that indicate this:
1. No Touch Control block under the gas tank, and no pump on the engine.
2. "FARMALL" logo on the grille. Supers have the "IH" logo. |
