Farmall M 3 Point Backhoe

I have a Farmall M with a Saginaw 3 point hitch. I am contemplating buying a 3 point hoe for it. I assume I need to ensure the pto/rpm are compatible. Has anyone any information on why or why not I should pursue a hoe for my M. Will it lift a 1K pound hoe? The belly pump seems to work fine. Thanks and I hope this is not the second post, had some trouble posting.

i would guess the m could carry the hoe. they can handle a mounted corn picker or cotton picker conversion, prolly pretty close weight wise. for hydraulics to run the hoe, you want a pto driven pump. the belly pump is just too slow. you will need some weight in the front of the tractor too, as it will be way light going down the road, and make for some real pucker factor wheelies. maybe add a loader to the front of the m for some extra weight and a little more usefulness. you will need a pretty good size hydraulic oil resevoir too, so you dont dont over heat it.

Would a pair of IH front weights do the trick? Or not enough weight?

If you made a bracket to get the weight out front it may be enough. Also, you could mount a thirty or 55 gallon plastic drum on the front and then just add water for ballast as needed.

So front wheel weights may not be enough. I could make a bracket for the front and add some weights of some kind, I guess a loader is really the answer, but good ones hard to find. Thanks
