just found an add for a 414. not sure about it. It needs a head gasket plus other minor items. Runs. Is 800 a good deal?

Does it have 3 cylinders or 4. If three it has a Perkins engine and that is good. It would have had about 35 hp and would be a 2-3 plow tractor, 2-16 or 3-14. The frame and chassis was a little light for the power but the B-414 was a work horse in its day. The Perkins engine was almost indestructible and the overall unit gave very little trouble. Wheels were adjustable the same as a Ford or Ferguson being much the same frame. Ford 2000 Dexter, MF-50, MF-35, and one of the Case models were basically the same tractor with a 3-cylinder Perkins. All were fine and I have seen good running models sell for $3000.

Hi, yes that is a B-414 Diesel with a BD-154 engine.
Very durable tractor, only downside is glow plug start.

Though I live in the deep south starting has not been a problem in the coldest of temperatures. You will need a good strong "Diesel" battery. I do not recall having to use the glow plugs ever to start but again temperatures were seldom below freezing. We just did not do tractor work in cold weather if we could avoid it.

Never heard of them with a Perkins.
Have the glow plugs working as they are supposed to and it will fire up very easily. Nice little tractors and quite strong for their size.

Hi Todd, I second what jimB has told you. Great little tractors, the were made at Bradford here in the UK. If you have any problems with the glowplug starting jimB or myself will go through it with you. I have a 1962 B414 of wich I rebuilt the engine last year and it starts with only 20sec heat summer and winter. MJ
