|
|
Picked up a Winpower 6/10 PT2 generator last week. Didn't pay much which may be a good thing.
Hooked it to the Super A today, and I only have 8.2V at the AC outlet.
I took the rear cover off and the contact rings look shiny enough. I don't think that's the problem.
Probably needs to be "flashed" but I can't find ANY markings on ANY wires, let alone the F1 and F2.
Any help on what I'd be looking for? Is it under the rear cover or the panel? |

I found the parts book on Winco's website, but it's no help.
The exploded views are CRUDELY hand-drawn, and I can't tell the armature from the PTO shaft!
What they label as the "shunt rectifier" is drawn as a white rectangle. I looked all over inside the generator and there is nothing that looks like a white rectangle!
Nothing inside the generator is labeled, and all the wires are either white or brown.
Anybody got any ideas at all here? |

I tried the drill trick, even going so far as to drive the corded drill backwards with a cordless. No dice. Output is only 5.2V now.
I've got the back cover off and I can't tell where the shunt rectifier is, or which wires are F1 and F2. |

if i remember right, the drill has to be a dc for that trick.
only other thing i can think of is look at the brush holders...the ones that are insulated should be positive. |

I think I found the shunt rectifier, and the problem.
The diodes were there in spirit only. As soon as I touched them, they crumbled and fell off. Looks like a trip to Radio Shack is in order. |

Nope.
I got a new rectifier from Radio Shack and plugged it in. Still no juice.
I tried applying 12V to what I *THINK* is the F1 and F2 connections. Still no juice.
The big problem is that NOTHING is marked in this generator. All the wires are either white or brown. |
