Brand new member and already posting a disaster story and seeking advice!
I have a "72 Ford 3000 diesel that I recently bought and did a considerable amount of cosmetics to. Well I was using it and the #3 connecting rod decided to pop out the side of the engine. I am new to tractors and dont know to much about rebuilding engines but I am up the creek right now. Any suggestions would be helpful, I think my best option is to find a running motor and try and swap it out - any idea on where I might be able to locate one. I"m close to Cleveland OH but willing to drive about anywhere to get one. Any other advice would certainly be appreciated.

Put a wanted ad in the "Classified Ads" under Marketplace to your left. You need to be careful when buying another engine. Whomever sold that tractor probably knew that engine had a connecting rod knocking. Put your request over on the Ford forum and see what they say. It may cost more than what the tractor may be worth.
