Forum Members,
Attempting to polarize the early 8N generator. I now notice there are no markings for armature, field or ground. The Wincharger generators that I work on are marked. Looked in the FO 4,but want to make sure I do this correctly. Any info is appreciated.

So,
You got Oldtanker's parts and now you're trying to make em work.
I'm thinking Rick would have taught you the folly of 6V in this climate if he gave you his old stuff.
Pay me now or pay me later.
12V is the only way to go in Cold Country.
6V gets you by.
12 V gets you confident.

Mr T........I "arc-spark" the side-by-side BAT & ARM terminals (heavy wires) on the squarecan voltage regulator, engine OFF. I use a wide-blade stubby screwdriver. You can use bailin'warr iff'n you want. You can re-polarize as many times as it takes to feel warm'n'fuzzy ...er... charged. ........Dell

LOL I think he wants to get his tractor to as close to original as possible.

Ultra,
Thought you would have figured out my mentality by now:) Remember, I am the one that works on 6 volt Wincharger generators and run that vintage wind driven power system at my man cave in the record holding coldest area in the state-Tower -60 F. I enjoy the challenge and if it worked then, it will work now. I enjoy the commentary on the Forum:)!

Ahhh,
Now I got it.
So what's your plan with the 6V stuff.
Has to be keep it inside and warm before you start it or you don't plan to drive it at all in January when it's - 60° on your turf.
12V prolly wouldn't do the job either in those temps.
