2377 auger question

guy's I have a friend that just bought a used 2377 Case combine and they had a 1/2' x 6" bolt come off the corn hdr and run thru machine and ended up bending a flighting in the unloading auger, he pulled the auger apart and straightened the bent flighting then reistalled the auger but now it seems like it is not moving the grain it was, he timed it with the augers like we always did the folding augers to make a continious flighting but would this be right on a 90 degree auger on these machines or should it be set just the oppisite? will call a dealer and see if they will give me the timing specs but was hoping to finish it tonight any ideas? thanks for any in put cnt

Nutty, I'm wracking my brain and I just can't come up with a definite answer. It's been seven or eight years since I've worked on a 2388 auger. You're talking about timing the horizontal auger where it meets the elbow right? The vertical auger has slinger paddles in there if I remember right. Won't it shear the 5/16 bolt if it's timed wrong because the grain builds up in the elbow? And I think you can feel it in the cab. Now I'm gonna lay asleep thinking about it. You probably won't appreciate a 3:00 AM phone call when I finally think of it LOL. Jim

Thanks for reporting back. For some reason 90 degrees was sticking in my mind but I didn't want to say it if I wasn't sure about it. Glad you got the problem fixed. Jim
