How difficult is it to rebuild a 6v generator on a WD 45?

Depends what all needs to be done. New brushes and bearings are pretty straight forward. If the commutator end of the armature is worn down or grooved, you will need the services of a shop that can turn it down and true it up. If the armature, OR the fields are shorted, that generator is a lost cause.
