I had my 2640 in the shop last month for some internal leaks to the hydraulic system. They split the tractor and indeed found some leaky lines. I got it back seemed to work fine, at least the loader and remote hydraulics, steering, etc. But today I was hooking up something on the 3-pt (first time since it returned from the shop) and lowered the arms and the lines started chattering again, like there was air in them. And the loader stopped working again. When I raise them all the way, it seems to stop. Does this sound familiar? |

When the hyd's start chattering look inside the hyd oil filler hole for "spraying oil" which indicates leaking rockshaft control valves. Leaking RS control valves is a common problem on JD utility tractors. |

Would they have to split the tractor to fix it? |

If RS valves are leaking one needs to remove RS housing to repair. |
