Is the steering gear box from a car, truck or was it special made for ford offset tractor?

I can't say for certain, but from the New Holland parts site, it doesn't look like any car or truck steering box that I've seen.
If you're looking for a replacement and can't find any 541's in a salvage yard, the 4 cylinder 2000 was offered in an offset model that uses the same part numbers for the front axle and steering parts as the 541.

both are hard to find parts for .. I knew that going into my 541 resto..
