I received this from Rick at CNH today. Alot of you seen pics of the BK tractor I purchased. We all would call it a BK but the card clearly says Golden Demo. I still have not found any evidence that CASE Co. ever called them that in print. Lets keep lookin, Rod.

The card for both my 1070 black knight and Don L's 870 black knight both also say Golden demo. I don't think they ever stamped the build cards with anything But Golden Demo. The reason probably being that the actual demo program was referred to as the "Golden Oppertunity demonstrator Program" I have several issues of a dealer newsletter they put out at the time called The Golden Oppuertunity News. It highlighted different dealer success stories though demostration

very good explaination the newsletter you are referring to was indeed like you say I had read every issue they made back in the day when we got them in our dealership, I have only been lucky enough to find one to date, some where I think in one of my lit pieces it refers to a BK, and I do remember them always called that back in the Demo days dealer reps and all of us in the dealerships called them BK's cnt

Hey Rod, I see in the pic of the build card, Marshall,MN. as the destination. Earlier photos you posted looked like the salvage yard in Hendricks, MN. Is this where you acquired the "Golden Demo"? Just curious as I'm over there quite often. Thanks for all your posts, they are always interesting!!

Yes Patsy it came from Hendricks. I did not ask where they got it, I just assumed from out of the area. Now does anyone know of a CASE dealer in Marshall durring the early 70's, they may of had a company store. I really don't know, Rod.

All of my Black Knights are stamped "Golden Demo" in the description area but our 870 Golden demo is stamped "Golden Opportunity" in Very large letters that fill up the whole description area at the bottom. In the 1970's buyers guide it has a 1070 Golden Demo on the back page and at the bottom it calls it "Our Golden Opportunity" Our dealership had a very large amount of Black Knights brought in from all over the USA. My father tells me that in the time around 1972-1973 Case had black kights sitting all over, mostly down south and they were not selling. Case started discounting them and he brought in several semi loads of them from the MO area. The sad part is many of them were painted over. I know of one of our customers who had a golden 770 and a black 970....both of which were later dismantled.

Yes I too have seen them repainted its a shame. Back in the day some dealers must have thought the black paint job was not desired by many. I know a fellow that was shopping for a 1470 in the late 70's. He found one in Wis. and called for more info. The dealer told him how good the tractor was and then said there was one drawback, it had that black paint job. He was excited, went over and bought it. He used it until 2009 when he sold it to a party in ND. I found this out about 6 mo. after the fact, darn. Rod.

Golden Demos were 70 only, Black Knights were 71 only then the program was dropped.

I live near Marshall, Mn, there was a Case dealer on the corner of Hwy 19 and 23 on the east side of town. It was between a church and the Chevy Dealer. I think it was called SW Power and Equipment or something like that.

My dad demo's a 2390 from them, but ended up with a 4490 back about 84 or so.

It sounds like the name of their company stores, Case Power and Equipment which were popular in 70's. Thanks, Rod.
