This is a follow up from an earlier post on my tractor not running well..If I get a new coil with the built in 3 ohm resistor. Do I still need the external resistor that is on the tractor now, between the coil and Distributer ??
Thanks |

I assume your tractor is 12 volt negative ground. If so you do not need an external resister if you use a 12 volt coil with 3 ohm resistance. |

Yes, it is 12V neg ground. They have a good price for one on this site, so I can get it and eliminate 2 possiable issues.
Thanks |

YES... the external resistor is only used if you keep the old 6 volt coil. |

If I do not end up getting a 12v coil with the built in resistor, then would I need to keep the external one ? |
