Found a nice looking 4420 jd combine for sale has 444 corn head, 454 row crop head, and a 13 foot grain head. Had been sitting in shed for 5 years put a battery in it and some fuel and started it up. The man wants $8,000 for everything. Just wondering if that is a reasonable price? Any Pros or cons with a 4420?

I would say $8,000 is a very good price for a 4420 with 3 heads. I purchased a 4420 from my local JD dealer for $8,000 and paid another $2,000 for the 213 header. I also had the JD dealer go trough it to fix a few things and replace some belts. So total cost was $13,000. I used it this year on 40 acres wheat & oats and it worked fine. It has 3200 hours. Came from a local farmer I knew who owned it for 22 years. He traded for for a 9410. Small good combines with air-conditioning are hard to find in my area of NE Wis. Al

It is not a bad price if the machine is in real good shape. The JD 454 head is worth scrap price. I just saw one sell Sat. that looked like new and it brought $250. The JD 444 will bring $1500-2000 if it is real nice. The JD 213 will bring $750-1000. So that makes the head worth maybe $2500-3000 of the total price. So the bare combine would be in the $5000-6000. Which it would do easily if it is in good shape.

They are a nice small machine. They will handle the 4 row head well if you have fairly flat ground.

Isn't that something how those all crop heads have devalued, and maybe I am just getting old. I can remember in the early 90's of worn out 4 row all crop heads on dealer lots with a 5,000 dollar price on them. No more sunflowers and flex heads really did them in. We still have five of them, all in usable condition, used them on beans, flowers and corn, simple design and we never did do much work on any of them.
