Does anyone know how easy a IH tachometer should be to turn? Recently I looked at repairing the tachometer on my 3414 international tractor. I found the inner core of the cable was twisted and broke near the tach. I removed the tach and turned it using my fingers but it feels hard to turn. I then used a cordless drill and tachometer seems to work well. I figured I would replace the cable and this should take care of my problem but don't want to snap the new cable. Should the tachometer turn with little or no resistance or is a little drag normal. |

A good tach should spin easily with almost no resistance. Sounds like yours is dragging badly and needs repair! |

Thanks Bob, Sounds like I may have to either have this one repaired or replace it. |
