We have an 07 Silverado and the tailgate does not latch reliably anymore. Might be partially beause of winter. Seemed to start after we bought a Sunlight camper that we use ocasionally, like maybe it overloaded the tailgate. Anybody have any experince with this problem? Thanks in advance! |

Take the handle assembly apart and clean it (free it up if needed) and then lube it up. Also lube up the catch assemblies. This has been a problem for years with Chevies and Fords.
Did this in my 95' chevy in August. Life is good (and the tailgate stays up). |

How do you get the handle assembly out? I have cleaned, lubed and adjusted the outer ends but have never had the handle out. |
