I'm still working on this project, I put head back on, adjusted valves, rebuilt carb, checked timing, tried to pull it off, seems like no fuel getting to cylinders. Made sure all passages were clear in carb. I think timing is good, I'm getting good spark. What else can cause this? |

Do you have primer cups? are they closed? have they been removed and the holes in the head plugged? Any air leaks and she wont start.
If the primers are there and functional, fill them up and then open them and re-close them, puts gas right into the cylinders. If you don't get it to pop, then you have other problems. |

you have to know if timing is right on otherwise thinking it is is not an answer. that is most likely your problem. |

Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor while a helper cranks over the engine. Should have good suction. Low suction means low intake manifold vacuum. You need good suction to pull that fuel into the engine. Make sure your valves have enough clearance. Hal |

You probably know this, but since it wasn't mentioned, make sure it's firing at tdc on #1 on the COMPRESSION stroke, not the exhaust stroke. |

Use a twisted belt to turn engine over and then go thru the ideas suggested by others. |

As suggested use a flat belt to turn your engine over from another tractor, or try pull starting with another tractor.
They tend to be picky on starting with the crank on a fresh rebuild, usually pop right off after 15-20 ft of pulling ......if everything is set right. |
