Just some backgroud before I rant. I have a toy tractor workshop in my basement. It is colder down there than upstairs. I have more trouble with Agco brand spray paint than I do any other-cheap or expensive. The worst has been the White combine red. It sprays out in small globs instead of a fine spray. I have changed spray tips, cleaned spray tips, adjusted spray tips, took it upstairs to get warm, just about everything I can think of. It won't bleed together and leaves a severe orange peel finish. The green and silver paints are better but not great. The only thing worse I have used is Rural King Magic Brand paint. Almost acts like there is not enough pressure in the can to create a fine mist. Could it be old paint? I bought it last winter but who knows how old it really is. John Deere and CaseIH paints spray much better that any Agco paint I have been using-even in a cold basement. Even the $2.00 Touch 'n Tone sprays a much nicer finish that the Agco stuff.

I am not a rookie with spray cans. I have done a lot and had some nice results but I am about at the end of my rope on this one. Anybody having the same problems?

CNH paint and Agco paint comes from the same place made by Valspar. If the dealer doesn"t move the paint and sits in the stock room I found it goes bad.

My experience has been good, although I haven"t used Red combine paint...Painted a number of rims with Agco white, one from my baler last week and they all came out great. One of my 77"s was used for pulling and had a 3" straight pipe. I had painted it with Agco/Oliver green and I patched the large hole in it. Didn"t feel like mixing up a batch for the spray gun, so I used a rattle can and was happy with the finish.Maybe you just got a bad batch.

I've had a few bad Argent Silver cans before. The dealer stands behind them and exchanges them. I just hit two bad cans of Bossline White when I did the rims on my American. Otherwise I've have decent luck. Meadow green always treats me good, even if its a year or two old.

Cowman is right, Valspar also makes all the paint for John Deere too.

Years ago when I used to do a lot of toys I found that heating the can of paint in a warm to hot bucket of water for a few minutes before application helped a lot. The paint just seemed to flow better and lay out better. Don"t know if this would help this situation but it is worth a try. The only tricky part is finding a way to weight down the can to hold it under the water.

I too have painted alot of toys with agco rattle cans. I have had nothing but great results. But like they say an old can can be a pain in the butt. I have also noticed that red paint in general sprays harder and is more prone to running. I dont know why but I have noticed this. Some other colors spray perfect.

I paint in my heated garage, about 60 degrees. Always heat the paint and the object being painted if it's small enough. No problems.

I've had good luck with AGCO's paint. Who knows how long it sat on your dealer's shelf before you bought it.
