I heard 2 guys at an ace hardware talking about the nws naming winter snow stormes, like they name hurricaines.?? Anyone hear this???

They have been doing it in North West Wisconsin for 8-10 years, but it has been our local CBS or Fox affiliate that seems to spearhead the effort.

It's not the NWS, it's The Weather Channel. It's nothing more than a way for them to hype storms and get people to watch.

Just another way for them to cry wolf so people don't pay attention when something dangerous is rally happening, kind of like using the tornado sirens for thunderstorm warnings...... pretty soon, you quit paying attention.

I'll stick with Grandpa's weather signs, he survived without cable TV & the internet......

They do that for lake effect storms in North Central NY between Syracuse and Watertown.

The Weather Channel has gone down hill since NBC took it over
