Hi all - I have attempted to square up the age on my tractor several times. I have heard various ways of finding it out, and have some conflicting info. Here's what I have so far:
1) A missing serial plate
2) A5617A stamped on the right side of the engine block
3) PTO level mounted just to the right of the gear shift.
4) Hand clutch on the right of the steering wheel.

From what I gathered, the best way to determine age was to subtract 4 from the first two numbers stamped on the engine block. This gives me 52, however according to most everyone I have talked to, the 52 had the hand clutch on the left, not on the right as mine has.

Can anyone lend me some info, as I need to sell the tractor and want to be more certain as to what the true age of my tractor is?

Thanks all!
Joe

The number you gave is the part number for the block, not the tractor's serial number. The serial number should be on the left side of the block where it bolts to the transmission case.

No chrome on her anywhere...

I have searched all over the joint on the left side and no numbers.. is the serial ever behind like the air cleaner or other attachment, or usually out in the open?

Thanks again.

From reading the post I wonder,, are you calling left hand and right hand from the back of the tractor looking toward the radiator , or are you in front of the tractor looking back toward the seat. Sure makes a difference..

Attached is a pic of a DC I looked at, I had to scrape paint off to see number. Good luck.
