I was using the back blade to push back some piles of leaves and the engine stalled. When I started it back up I had no gears and the 3 point would not go up. Not sure were to start looking. Any help would be appreciated. It is a 42 2N.

May be as simple as checking the hydraulic fluid level to be sure you are not low. It otherwise could be internal for the tranny,..stuck clutch? Bad valve in the hydraulic system? You may end up taking off the top cover to see what"s wrong.

Is your clutch working OK? Will the shift lever go into the slot or is it stuck in neutral?

Sounds like your clutch isn't grabbing. If you were in neutral then your hydraulics would work unless the lever on the left was not engaged. When the tractor is shut off you can jack up a rear wheel and try to spin it. You should be able to crank your transmission and have hydraulic operation as well if there is no load on it.

Is the Sherman in neutral?

no gears and no hyds DEFFINATELY points to an early drive train failure.

as JS said. I'd check any pre trans to see if in gear.. that then clutch hub.. or input shaft.

Actually the shift lever seems to flop all over the place. Very loose. Clutch was replaced about a year ago. Also rebuilt the hydraulic pump at the same time and new fluid with no leaks.. Left side lever is engaged as well as the Sherman.

Shift lever may explain no gears, but if the PTO is turning you should still have 3PT operation.
If the PTO isn't turning then the hydraulic pump isn't either.

Sounds like transmission is stuck in two gears. The shift lever mechanism is worn and needs replaced or repaired to prevent this from re-occurring. The only way I know to get it to move is to remove the transmission top and move the gears into neutral and repair then replace the shift lever. This is easy on an 8N but on the 2N/9N involves more disassembly work to get to the problem.
If what I suggest is the problem, the engine should be stalling when you take your foot off (engage)the clutch. If it is not stalling as decribed here, the problem is in the Sherman unit.
